Ministries in multi-sector response to HIV/AIDS -treatment centre for prisons

The Ministry of Health and seven other ministries signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Wednesday as part of a national multi-sectoral response to fight the spread of HIV/AIDS.
As part of the prevention and control project funded by the government of Guyana and the World Bank, a treatment centre will be set up in the compound of the Georgetown Prisons for inmates, and $42M will be distributed to the ministries signing the MOU for education, training, treatment, care, and other services for their employees.
The ministries signing the MOU were Education; La-bour, Human Services and Social Security; Home Af-fairs; Amerindian Affairs; Culture, Youth and Sport; Agriculture; and Local Gov-ernment, a Government Infor-mation Agency (GINA) press release said.y been distributed to various Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) through the Health Sector De-velopment Unit (HSDU), Minister of Health Leslie Ramsammy said at the signing.
