Minister Ramsammy attends health meetings in United States

(GINA) Minister of Health Dr. Leslie Ramsammy has left for Washington D.C to attend the Caribbean Community’s (Caricom) meeting of Health Ministers and the Pan American Health Organisation’s 46 th annual Commonwealth meetings.
High on the agenda will be issues affecting the health sectors of Caricom Countries.
Some of the areas to be looked at incude HIV/AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis, while special emphasis will be placed on food safety.
According to Minister Ramsammy, he will ensure that his Caricom partners know of the aggressive fight that Guyana has embarked on to combat these diseases.
“I want to make certain that Guyana is well prepared to handle any outbreak which can occur at any time.”
The Minister also mentioned that Guyana has seen an improvement in the health sector and he will continue to garner support from other states to curb diseases affecting Guyanese.
