THE Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development has come onboard the HIV/AIDS sensitisation campaign through the donation of billboards to the 10 Administrative regions to spread awareness of the disease.

Minister of Local Government and Regional Development, Kellawan Lall, today presented the billboards which carry the message ‘Life is a gift, cherish it’ and ‘Protect yourself from HIV’, to representatives of the Regions. He urged that they be placed at strategic points.

The billboards, Minister Lall said are part of the national programme that is being spearheaded by the Government in collaboration with the Ministry of Health to reduce the incidence of the disease.

He pledged the Ministry’s continued support toward highlighting awareness of the disease especially in hinterland regions.

Citing reports from local and international agencies, Minister Lall said Guyana is achieving great influence with its HIV/AIDS campaign as compared to many other countries.

Last month the Ministry handed over information racks to all the regions for displaying HIV/AIDS literature.
